You can’t always get what you want. I’m not quoting Mick Jagger’s lyrics, just stating the obvious, as all of you who did not win my big fabulous Forever Amish Giveaway prize know. The little girl inside of me wanted all of you to win!
Examples of disappointments abound: Our annual Fourth of July family party fizzled last week when my husband came down with a wretched case of the flu and was too sick to stock-pile fireworks, let alone flip burgers. He’s still ailing five days later. I should be thrilled that I haven’t caught his illness … yet. But I missed time spent with our grandkids, family members, and friends.
However, yesterday I nabbed a primo parking spot at the grocery store and I admired pretty flowers to photograph. My stash of dark chocolate will tide me over for weeks and I hear Forever Amish is accumulating great reviews on Amazon. I appreciate each one more than I can say. I have much to be grateful for, including you!
Be it ever so humble, is there anything you’re feeling grateful for? Leave a short comment and enter to win a copy of either Leaving Lancaster, Pennsylvania Patchwork, or Forever Amish! THREE winners will get to choose which novel they prefer! USA & Canada. Winners have one week to respond.
Congratulations to last week’s three winners: Laura P., Janice C. and Elizabeth D.! Each may choose one book from the Legacy of Lancaster Trilogy: a copy of either Leaving Lancaster, Pennsylvania Patchwork, or Forever Amish! I’ll email you soon to get your addresses!
PS: My sweetheart aunt sewed the petite quilt. She recently died at age 99.
As a cancer survivor, I am thankful that God is giving me the strength to teach Vacation Bible School this week. I am so blessed!
I imagine that after surviving cancer each day is treasured in a new way, Maryann. What fun to teach vacation Bible school! I remember when our sons went, back in the good old days. Good luck in the book giveaway!
I’m thankful for friends and family.
Friends and family are a great blessing, Donna! And so is your grateful heart. I’m sure they appreciate you too. Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!
I’d love to win.
Thankful for everything.
Family. My grandson, who is twelve, kept wanting to make me eggs today. He said, “I make awesome eggs.” 🙂
Hard to think. I was up sick all night. Hope I don’t have one of those lingering virus things too. 😛
Having a grandson fix you awesome eggs sounds fun, however being sick all night … no fun. Hope you get better soon! Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!

Thankful that my Dad will be 93 years old in a month and he’s still with us and has excellent health. My Mom is 88 years old, but has Alzheimer’s and is slipping away from us, very difficult to watch. Would love to win your new book.
How wonderful to have a healthy dad, Sandy! Also sad to watch your mother slip away. I’ve been there: my father outlived my mother fifteen years. (She died of brain cancer.) The blessing? My father and I grew even closer. Not that I don’t miss my mom every day. Good luck in the book giveaway!

I would love you to add one of my Amish books to your favorites list! I hope you get a chance to read one soon, maybe as a winner in this giveaway. Good luck!
I am so grateful for my family and friends and for the love, admiration and devotion that I receive from my husband. The Lord has truly blessed me with so much. When days are dark for me, I think of all of those going through a much darker time so instead of feeling sorry for myself….I ask for hope for others that they may see a brighter day. Love, Faith, Hope and Prayer are all things I am grateful for and have the opportunity do express freely.
You’ve found a perfect solution, Linda! I do the same thing when I’m feeling down or overwhelmed. I remind myself of all the Lord has blessed me with and I pray for those enduring difficult times, and sometimes even my “enemies,” which is not always an easy feat. Good luck in the giveaway!
I am so greatful for all the wonderful women I have met in my amish group. They have given me such wonderful support and advise. They have brought me through some rough spots.

I’m grateful for a husband who thought fast when our central air was out last week. We were quoted almost $3k and with the Texas heat we weren’t going to argue. However, he found where we could order the part online ($400) and a video on how to do it. He then bought a portable AC ($300) to get us through the 4th of July weekend. We’ve been cool since Monday. =)
You have a resourceful and intelligent husband, Jennifer! Glad you’re keeping cool. Good luck in the giveaway!

Hi, I am grateful for people who write historical fiction. I did not enjoy history in school during my teen years. Though I recall reading authors such as Charles Dickens and Nathaniel Hawthorne, it wasn’t until years later that I realized such stories were historically based. I then began branching out, learn so much more about history than when in class. Thank you for teaching me about the Amish.
I hope to one day write about growing up in Southern California in the 70s. They do say “write what you know.” The challenge is where to start, what to put in and what to leave out.
How wonderful that you’ve discovered historical fiction, Pam! Have you read my novel Leaving Lancaster, which has threads woven throughout it that reach back to … oops, I must not give away the plot to those who haven’t read it! I did and still do research the Amish and enjoy the challenge; I strive to get my facts correct while creating intriguing characters and a unique story. I hope you go ahead and start writing. it’s okay to not be perfect, knowing you can go back and rewrite. I enjoy that process too. Good luck in the book giveaway!

Couldn’t get up. so had to scoot about 2 or 3 foot on my seat to the car. then scoot farther to reach handle cause nothing to pull up on. made it and was hard to pull up to get in car but with GOD’s help made it home. sure have some sore, bruised places tho.
