Is the living easy in the summertime as the well-known song states? Is summer your favorite time of year or have you just about had it with the heat and have a case of the summertime blues?

What are the Dog Days of Summer, anyway?
Are you ready for autumn, which I admit is my favorite time of year? Love those changing leaves, but where I live rain accompanies it. We could use a good dowsing of rain (did I say that?) but once the clouds move in I know I’ll be complaining.

Probably the heat. I like being outside and when it’s in the upper 90’s my blood pressure can’t stand it.
The heat. I like sitting outside reading and watching the birds. And doing stuff outside. When it gets in the upper 90’s. It’s just to hot and my blood pressure goes up.
I love being outside too, Sue. But not in the upper 90s! Thanks for entering the giveaway!
Kate
I love Summer!!
I think that my least favorite thing of Summer is bugs…mosquitoes, flies, ants, etc.
I love hot weather. On a really hot day, I will think to myself, “This is the weather you will be wishing for in December, January, and February.”
Have a nice day!
You are so right, Elaine! In no time at all we will all be wishing for hot weather again. When it gets too hot, I pretend I’m in Hawaii … Best of luck in the book giveaway!

You are making me feel blessed for not having an abundance of bugs this summer, Tina. I also love all that fresh fruit. Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
My favorite thing about summer is the warm breeze at night, and living on the boat . There isn’t anything I dislike about summer.
Wow, you must be in your element this summer, Sparkle. I’m glad you’re enjoying this season. Thanks for entering the book giveaway!
Kate
Summer as they say is a double edged sword. I love the long hours of sunshine (especially since I never can seem to get all that I need to in the daytime), veggies and fruits growing in gardens (nothing beats something fresh from the garden), and sitting on our front porch (fans on for sure) with glass of iced beverage admiring the Ozark Mountains while reading a good book. On the other hand, it’s extremely HOT in the south with high humidity, lands are usually parched from lack of rains so yards are dying if not watered constantly (increasing the water bill greatly) and summers in the south mean mosquitos, ticks and chiggers – need I say more. I have learned through my years to appreciate the good and ignore the bad to enjoy each and every season for all it has to offer. 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win a copy of A Letter from Lancaster County!
You have a great attitude, Kay. I shudder to think what our water bill will be, but I don’t want to lose all our bushes … Thanks for writing and entering the giveaway!
Kate
My favorite part of summer is sitting out in the evenings with a good book. . Like a Kate Lloyd book! Lately I have had to have a blanket as the evenings get chilly in PA. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
I agree, needing a blanket at night is lovely during the summer, Linda. Nothing like a chilly evening and a book to read. Thanks for writing and entering the giveaway! Hope you get a chance to read my new book soon.
Kate
Least favorite part of summer is the high, high humidity ☹. Thank you for the chance to win a copy of your new book.

Kate

Kate
Summer is tolerated until the season changes. The Fall is filled with God’s most artistic wonders. The colors take your breath away. The scents are filled with every promise of cozy nights in front of a fire. The earlier darkness hugs us close and keeps us safe.
Tolerating the heat sums it up, Kate. And yet many take vacations to hot areas during the winter … It’s hard to keep us satisfied. I do love the colors in fall, but I try to savor every day. I also don’t mind the darkness, which allows me to sleep in. No offense to the birds. Thanks for writing and injuring the giveaway!
Kate
My favorite part of Summer is when it is finally over! Fall is my favorite time of year, LOVE the “ber” months!
You made me chuckle, Tracie. I have never thought of the “ber” months as being fall. a fun idea. Thanks for writing!

I really love everything about summer, except the humidity. It makes everyone and everything miserable!
Humidity can make life miserable, Cynthia. I recall summers in NJ and CT, and am glad we don’t have too much of it in Seattle. But the worst smog I can ever recall this summer due to forest fires in Canada. Hard to win. Speaking of winning, good luck in the giveaway!

I love all four seasons, because each have a beauty of its own. Summer brings fireflies at night, picnics, swimming, fishing at the lake, beautiful flowers, and all the delicious fresh vegetables. Of course it also brings the heat, humidity and bugs which are things I dislike.
I miss the fireflies, Katrina. Wish we had them around here. How wonderful that you love all four seasons, because you can find contentment in each one. Thanks for entering the giveaway!

Summer is best early a.m. when the sun has risen and the coolness of the morning is there. This morning a mama deer and her fawn came to visit. I of course said hello, but then asked them to go on their way before eating my flowers. Nothing better than the still of the early morning on a beautiful and soon to be hot day.
I agree, Susie. I’m an early riser too and adore the morning hours before the heat moves in. Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate

I detest the over abundance of flies, mosquitos, and nats! They ruin what can be a glorious time outdoors, and can sending everyone running inside. The bites, swelling, and irritation after they land on you sure doesn’t help, and the misery of those nats diving into your eyes in the garden ruin the peace and serenity.
Sorry you are bothered by so many flying insects, Ann. What the pest. Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!
