When my husband and I surveyed our messy kitchen the other day, I joked, “Too bad one of us isn’t compulsively neat.” No matter our good intentions, magazines, envelopes, boxes from Amazon, and do-dads accumulate.
Spring has officially made her appearance! Already? It’s dark this morning, but I hear pairs of chickadees and robins outside twittering. Yet I’m not in the mood to tidy our nest. Are you? I didn’t think so. It can take quite a while to get into the spring cleaning mood, but once we do, there’s never anything stopping us from fixing up our homes to their full glory. This spring cleaning season, you may want to invest in some new gear that can make your cleaning easier than ever. For example, you could open sales page of a company like Bissell so that you can get yourself a brand new vacuum or steam cleaner. You may also rely on experts in house cleaning in Lenexa KS to make your home spotlessly clean.
I think of the Amish, who keep their flower gardens and homes meticulously neat. When the company is expected, especially if the home will serve as a meeting place for their church district’s Sunday worship, a wedding, or other occasion, rugs are hung out and beat with a broom (no vacuums or electrical appliances), floors are swept, and scrubbed, along with walls and ceilings. That same dedication to cleanliness and detail can be seen in homes enhanced with natural surfaces from a trusted uk marble supplier, bringing timeless beauty without compromising on simplicity. In Lancaster County, PA, if English (any non-Amish person) cleaning products are desired they can be purchased at Walmart.
For the most part, our house has a shoes-off policy, which drastically helps reduce the amount of dirt tracked in. When our sons lived at home, they and their friends knew to kick off their shoes and leave them by the door. I’ve always wanted a mudroom for that purpose, but unlike Amish farmhouses, few homes in Seattle were built with them in spite of our vast amounts of rain. Fear not should you visit us; we don’t require visitors except workmen to remove their boots.
How are you welcoming the arrival of spring? Last week, my sister felt inspired and brought out much of her warm-weather clothes, then told me she was freezing. Our nights are still dipping to the upper 30s. But I got the urge to root through the clothing I didn’t wear all winter (not once!) and force myself to make the difficult decision whether to hang on to them for next winter or give them away.
Do you sort through your winter clothing in the spring? There are some items I might only wear once or twice a year, such as to a wedding. Amish friends would laugh if they saw how many clothes and hats I own.
What does Spring Cleaning mean to you? Does it mean searching for the best Self Storage Units to fit everything in because you can’t let it go? Do you spend the whole day scrubbing your house until it shines? Where do you start? Do you have a system I could borrow? Or are you someone that leaves the spring cleaning to professionals like as Sparkle and Shine? Whatever your method is for cleaning your house, I want to know how everybody else goes about the spring cleaning process. When it comes to spring cleaning or cleaning in general, a friend of mine finds this to be quite challenging, as her vacuum cleaner is not as good as it used to be. It collects little to no dust. So she took it upon herself to check out sites like https://allgreatvacuums.com/ to finally replace the old vacuum with something brand new. Hopefully, this will make spring cleaning a lot easier for her. Saying this though, overall, cleaning the whole house can be tough, especially doing it on your own.
Please leave a comment and enter to win this beautiful 44″ Amish-made table runner from Lancaster County, PA, plus a signed book from The Legacy of Lancaster Trilogy: either Leaving Lancaster, its sequel Pennsylvania Patchwork, or Forever Amish! Winner has three days to respond. USA and Canada.
I usually do a little Spring cleaning, but nothing drastic. It’s funny. When I had kids at home, I did more cleaning than I do now that I’m retired. I love having company, because it makes me clean my house up. 🙂
Isn’t that the truth, Pat? Knowing we’re hosting on Easter lunch has me worried. Thanks for writing and entering the giveaway. Good luck!

Kate: When it comes to Spring Cleaning, I think of Christmas!!!! Every room is going to hold some surprise, just like Christmas morning so, I take it 1-2 rooms a day (depending on size of rooms) and, go looking for my surprise(s) while also cleaning!!!
Lisa, you have a delightful attitude toward Spring Cleaning! One or two rooms a day doesn’t seem as daunting, and who knows what surprises I will find? Thanks for sharing your clever strategy and for entering the giveaway!
Kate
I have ocd, I keep house cleaning and all but spring xleaning, just give the house a great smell after winter.
So true, Melissa! I love the smell of a clean house after a long winter. Thanks for your insightful comment. Makes me want to open the doors and all the windows … except still too cold out there. Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
You’re making me work harder.
I officially grant you a no-spring-cleaning Spring, Beth! Thanks for writing and entering the giveaway!
Kate
I’m not a very good cleaner… Spring or otherwise. My barn was always neater than my house. That being said, Spring cleaning gives you the chance to wash up and put away the many coats, sweatshirts, Carhartts, long johns and gloves that have accumulated. Plus you can open the windows and air everything out.
Thanks for writing, June! In the Pacific Northwest, I know I’ll wear raincoats and jackets all year. But I do try to put them in a downstairs basement once the weather gets warmer to de-clutter my front hall closet. I’m not ready to give up my long johns and gloves yet either … I’d love to open the windows and air the house out. Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
Usually clean Windows and clean each room thoroughly moving every thing! I noticed your cleaning supplies, Mrs. Meyers, Sprayway and Goo Gone, so you’re on the right track. I love my clothes and can’t possibly toss anything out. The big secret is just start but I find that harder as I get older. Happy Spring! Thanks for the opportunity to win. As always, great giveaway!
I’m glad you approve of my cleaning supplies, Linda! You’re right, you do need to move everything in order to clean properly. Sigh. Yesterday I donated two bags of clothes that I don’t wear for some unknown reason. I hope the recipient will enjoy them. Thanks for entering the giveaway!
Kate
Hi. I start my spring cleaning right after the first of the year. First I start with the closets. Then move on to the spare rooms. Next I start with whatever room I feel like doing. By spring when the windows are opened. All I have left to do is wash the quilts, curtains, and windows. With that all done. I have time to get outside and start on the flower and veg. gardens. I find that doing it this way. I have my cleaning done and I can enjoy the new growth of the spring.
You are amazing, Sandy! I need to be as organized as you are. I’m embarrassed to tell you that some of my closets are still filled with our sons’ possessions. Not good. Thanks for all your great advice and for entering the giveaway!
Kate
We tend to concentrate on cleaning at the change of seasons. Spring cleaning is usually pretty intensive as we try to get rid of clutter we held on to because we were all to lazy to drag it to the trash in the cold and snowy weather!
I can’t blame our clutter on the weather, Tracie! Well, maybe a little bit because where I live the weather is so changeable it’s nearly impossible to put away your rain-gear and fleece jackets. Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!
Kate
I wish I had a good answer but I struggle to find time to do my basic cleaning. The only additional cleaning I do is washing all my windows and sashes.
Washing windows is a monumental project, Marcella! I agree, when you’re busy it’s hard to find time for cleaning. Thanks for writing and entering the giveaway!
Kate
Yep. Sure is! I pick 1 room at a time to start. Start in 1 corner, work your way around the room. Then start all over in the next room…. putting stuff away as you get to it. I have a tote for goodwill, a return tote for whomever I borrowed whatever from, and a toss it out tote. .. less over whelming that way and you’ll see your progress as you go.
You sound very intelligent and organized, Cynth! I find I get distracted … sometimes I’m worse than a little kid, especially if I’m in the middle of writing something and an idea blooms. Thanks for sharing your most excellent ideas. Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
I am definitely a clean freak. I do deep cleaning beginning and end of each season. I would love to win your contest. I could use a reading break. And my kitchen is in blues and yellows.
Wonderful, Sandi! You’ve probably already got your spring cleaning done, which is good encouragement for me. Thanks for writing and entering the giveaway. Good luck!
Kate
Spring Cleaning is not a “ritual” for me. I remember growing up. My mother spent a week Spring Cleaning and a week Fall Cleaning. We would clean the house from top to bottom and from the inside to the outside. I guess that is why I do not do things like my mother. I try to keep my place pretty neat. (I still cannot figure where the dust and dirt come from when I am the only one here!)
Have a nice day.
Happy Easter!!
i have my handyman cleaning outside as we speak, getting my lawn furniture powerwashed, outside windows cleaned, yard cleaned, grass cut,,,,inside i start with clothes,,,put up heavy clothes (except a few items ,for cold weather that sneaks upon us),then i start stripping beds, putting on lighter colored comforters and curtains, washing walls, washing floors,,turning and vacumimg mattresses ..we go through the works,,same as in the fall, just reverse cold weather clothes, and darker drapes and comforters.this year is gonna be an exception ,so many ill, will be a lot less things done, but still will be clean…i sure don’t miss all the hard work…
Spring cleaning would certainly be a lot more fun with the daughter helping, Elaine! But apparently not fun for you. It is amazing where all the dirt and dust comes from, but I figured that is part of living in the city for us. Once we installed a heavy-duty filter on our furnace and HEPA filters on a vacuum cleaner, the dust problem improved greatly, But it’s been accumulating … Happy Easter to you and good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
I am on a decluttering frenzy and spring cleaning.Due to health problems it takes me longer to get things done. With my experience in the last month I would recommend one project or one room at a time. Also keep all your cleaning products in a caddy and keep with you,(saves time and energy running back and forth). And do not overdo or stress yourself out, believe me,it won’t go anywhere.Happy spring Kate!
Thank you for your words of wisdom, Jackie! You are so right about the clutter not going away if I neglect it. One room at a time sounds smart, as does carrying cleaning products in a caddy. Not worth stressing over, but even my husband gets a little irate at the stacks of unread catalogs, etc., in our kitchen. Happy Spring to you, and good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
Would love to win table runner and book. Wish I had a love for cleaning and would clean like the Amish do!
I don.t spring clean. I clean as needed. I should do so more often but with working 9 hours everyday, I do what I can.
Keeping your home clean as needed is wonderful, Brenda! Working nine hours a day only leaves you so much time. Thanks for writing and entering the giveaway!
Kate
Thanks for writing, MaryEtta! I’m sure many Amish do not love cleaning, but they do it anyway. It can be a family affair. Many hands make work easier. Although some Amish families have little children to look after while they’re cleaning. Good Luck in the giveaway!
Kate
I would sure be inclined to do some spring cleaning, if I had that lovely table runner!
I’m inclined to put that lovely table runner on our dining room table, Antoinette, but will restrain myself! Thank you for writing your entertaining comment and entering the giveaway!
Kate
I don’t have answers to help with spring cleaning because I can’t do it anymore. I clean out things when I see things that need to be done. I don’t do as much now as I use too since I’ve gotten older and I have fibromyalgia that limits me. I have to do a little at a time or I can’t stand the pain the next few days. My husband helps me when I need to move furniture to clean under something. I would love to have that runner. It’s beautiful! I also have #3 paperback book of yours and 1& 2 in ebooks. I would love to have another in paperback. Thanks for the opportunity!
You have a good excuse for not doing spring cleaning, Brenda! I’m glad you have a strong husband to help you move furniture. My wish is that your doctor can find the source of your fibromyalgia and help you feel better. Thanks for reading my books! And thank you for entering the giveaway!
Kate
When the weather is warm enough to open the windows, I will take down my winter drapes, wash the windows and put up the summer curtains. When that is done then I will completely clean one room a day til they are all done. Love the runner and your books. Thanks for the chance to win. Happy cleaning!
I love that you have winter and summer curtains, Debbie! What a delightful idea and it makes all the sense in the world. You sound like an excellent housekeeper. Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!
Kate
Did a lot more spring ( and fall) cleaning when I was younger and still had kids at home. Last year we moved from our home ( which my husband was raised in ) into a totally redone 10 year old lake home. It was three times the size of the home we raised our girls in. I have managed to keep everything in the home dusted, washed down, and this year will not have to do a bit of spring cleaning. I am looking forward to time on the lake this summer and camping most weekends.
Is nice to be able to keep everything up and clean for a change.
You and your husband made an incredible transition, Karan! I imagine when you moved out of his childhood home you had a huge amount of organizing and downsizing to contend with. I commend you for keeping your new home dusted and washed down. Your time on the lake and weekends camping sound fabulous, more fun than housecleaning. Thanks for leaving your lovely comment and entering the giveaway!
Kate
I don’t do spring cleaning per se, except for washing windows, because I usually clean inside twice a week.
If you clean the inside of your home twice a week you are an extraordinary housekeeper, Rachel! My husband would be thrilled … Thank you for visiting my blog and entering the giveaway!
Kate
What a lovely runner! Perhaps it would inspire me to actual do a spring cleaning. (Have you ever heard the story of The Magic Geranium? A woman lives in a drab little house and receives a “magic” geranium from her neighbor. Once she sees how pretty the flower is, she is motivated to clean and paint and spruce up first the table, then the kitchen, then her house and then her yard – all because of the “magic” geranium.) See, the runner could work like that for me if I won it 🙂
Thank you for sharing your delightful story about the Magic Geranium, Lisa-Ann! I have never heard it before and think I need to buy a magic geranium when they are in bloom again. Good Luck in the giveaway! If you win the table runner, may it encourage you to spruce up your house and yard!
Kate
Love this runner!
I’m glad you love the table runner, Kathy! Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
Spring cleaning around here involves going thru clothes to see what can be donated and what we will keep, going thru knick knacks for the same reasoning, and cleaning around the house…Windows, closets, etc.
Sounds as though you have an excellent strategy for spring cleaning, Cindy! I have a tough time going through my clothes because I think I might want them again, but did indeed donate two bags a few days ago. There are a few knickknacks that should find a new home too. What can a parent do with sweet little statues their children made years ago? Thanks for sharing your spring cleaning tips. Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
I Spring clean every time I clean, my best friend said she could eat off my floors and not worry…lol. It takes me twice as long to clean, because I am so picky….I could never hire a helper….I would be right behind her handing her a toothbrush or saying that corner is not clean. I will start true Spring cleaning in April! My OCD comes natural….my mother is the Grand Mrs. Clean! In her 80’s she still got down on her hands and knees to clean bathroom floors and her kitchen floor….me on the other hand….steam mop! The runner is beautiful! Sure would brighten up any table!
You are amazing, Linda! What wonderful qualities to inherit from your mother. Now that I think about it, my mom was not Mrs. Clean, although she did hire a woman to come in twice a month … My mother kept herself busy as a portrait sculptress and teacher. She was loved by many, but my sister and I still chuckle when we talk about looking into our disorderly kitchen drawers. Thanks for your fun letter, Linda. I’m glad you can’t see the state of my kitchen floors on most days. Wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
Kate
I first clean out all my closets, drawers, and cupboards. Then I take one room at a time and wash curtains, bedding, etc , wash windows, dust walls, clean lights, polish wood. I dust and wash anything washable. Scrub the floors and dust all the furniture. I have a tote and purge as I clean and either donate it or have a yard sale.
I clean on a daily basis and my kids tease me, but my mom taught us to be neat freaks because she was raised in an orphanage that required it.
Thank you for the chance to win this beautiful runner. I love your books. God bless.
I think your cleaning methods sound terrific, Lucy! I bet your kids wouldn’t tease you if you made them do the work. What a delight to have a clean house, one free from extra items that could be donated or sold in the yard sale. Thanks for your inspiration and for entering the giveaway!
Kate
No spring cleaning here per se. I am in the process of a 365 day decluttering project.
Wow, Kim, that sounds great! My guess is that you’d have no trouble throwing away the catalogs I’ve hung onto that clutter the kitchen. Thank you for entering the giveaway!
Kate
Spring Cleaning…..It brings to mind endless hours of dusting and wall washing lol. I try to tackle one room a week so I can fully conquer it before moving onward. I combine smaller rooms into one week but the kitchen and living room get their own week. It takes until June but I am less stressed and the whole house shines for the summer sun:)
Your strategy for Spring Cleaning sounds intelligent and without stress, Kara! I bet your house sparkles by June, just when you can open windows and let the summer warmth in. Thank you for sharing your tips and entering the giveaway!
Kate
Spring cleaning is doing windows and moving furniture in my book. I do not do that every spring. When I clean every week I put things away that needs to be put away. I enjoy opening windows to air out the house in the spring. I do sort through clothes to donate to charity or resale shop. Everyone has their own way of spring cleaning. The Amish homes are always clean and living with less would benefit most of us. I have simplified a lot of things to cut down on dusting, sorting, etc. Beautiful table runner–it would look wonderful on my kitchen table since my kitchen is blue and white with yellow and peach accents. God bless you, Kate. Tackle one thing at a time to not be overwhelmed with spring cleaning.
Excellent advice, Marilyn! Tackling one project at a time is sure to reduce stress In all areas of my life. On the surface, our house is looking pretty neat today, but within the drawers and closets, another story. Too much, that I could donate to charity. Your kitchen sounds beautiful. The table runner would look terrific. Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
I probably am more into yard spring cleaning than the house, althoughI do rotate all the bedding & things in closets.
Yard spring cleaning does sound like more fun, Susan, except for all the rain we’ve had. Rotating the bedding and things in the closets are chores I haven’t tackled. It’s still too cold at night to take off my extra blanket, and put away my fleece jackets and vests. My walking coat must be 20 years old and not a pretty sight, but I can’t seem to find a replacement for it, one that I can tuck my camera under. Thanks for writing. Wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!

I have already packed up winter clothes and brought out spring clothes and am currently trying to go through the house doing a really good declutter and spring cleaning. Would love to win this beautiful table runner and a book! Thanks for the opportunity!
Thanks for writing, Tiffany! You make me want to start wearing spring clothing, but unless I was active or inside I’d freeze. Maybe a bright flowered scarf would help me? You and the above writers have inspired me to de-clutter. We just don’t need so much stuff and knickknacks. Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
I am not doing spring cleaning yet but would love to win this table runner and a book.
Spring cleaning is not mandatory to edit this contest, Sharon! Good luck!
Kate
i have not started my spring cleaning yet. but i need too. would live to receive a sign book from you. love to read. thanks
I’d love to have you win one of my signed books, Brenda, and win the giveaway! Wishing you good luck. Thanks for writing!
Kate
I did some spring cleaning in our basement before I had surgery last week. It always feesl so good when everything is clean and fresh. Our daughter from Alaska is coming next month to visit for a week so needed to get the basement fresh and springy for when she arrives. Spring freshness reminds me of the fresh smell of new born baby
The aroma of a newborn baby is the sweetest, Brenda! Our house will never smell that good, but I’m going to give spring cleaning my best try. I’m glad your daughter is coming next month to keep you company if you’re housebound. Praying for a speedy recovery and a blessed Easter. Thanks for entering the giveaway!
Kate
Because I can be distracted easily and I love being outdoors as much as I can, I concentrate on one room a day. I don’t feel so overwhelmed and I don’t run away from home!
I am also easily distracted, partly because my mind is toying with several writing projects, and I love being outdoors. Concentrating on one room at a time does seem like a good strategy. Don’t want you running away from home! Thanks for entering the giveaway!
Kate
I just started my spring cleaning. To me that means washing windows, mini blinds, and hanging different curtains out. I move furniture, wash walls, shampoo the carpetting, etc, etc. I also go through cabinets and closet and do a big clean out of items to send to the Goodwill. Its a huge job and takes me awhile because I have back issues, but it will get done…..eventually. Good luck, Kate, on getting your’s finished. Happy Easter!
Very impressive, Melissa Ann! I wish I had different curtains to hang out. That sounds like a fun seasonal change in your home. Do not wish I could wash walls, although they do get done eventually, or shampoo the carpet. You really do a comprehensive spring cleaning! Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
I happen to be one of those clean all people. If something like a closet or drawer needs cleaned I do it through out the year. For spring I am getting ready to have my bedrooms painted then I will do the windows and wash shower curtains and that kind of stuff. When all that is done….wow I’m tired already….I will have carpets cleaned. I used to have all this done by the first of April but this year trying to get motivated…a few nice warm sunny days with the windows open will get me moving…
I admire you, Judy! I need borrow some of your cleaning DNA and keep on top of the clutter I accumulate. I can imagine you’re tired after washing windows, shower curtain, etc. Our carpets are getting so old I’m almost afraid to have them cleaned, but this is a good reminder to have them done. Thanks for writing and entering the giveaway!
Kate
Kate, being disabled and not having the ability to stay on my feet for long periods of time…I do my “spring cleaning” weekly. I choose a room and do everything needing done in one or two days. when it comes to doing ceilings, walls, and carpets…I invite my daughter to come stay for a while. In exchange for her doing these chores…I make all her favorite meals while she is here. after eating…we sit and gossip or catch up on all the movies we’ve been wanting to see…as both of us are voracious readers…we also swap bags of books at this time…I don’t go out much…so for me…this is a time to see what’s going on with others around me…it’s like a vacation for both of us…I would love to win the table runner…it makes me think of early spring mornings when the sky is just awakening and the sun is weakly shining through…before the full burst of light and heat of the day…I would also love to add this book to my reading shelf…thank you for this chance to receive one of your books! Mary
Spring cleaning on a weekly basis sounds like an intelligent method, Mary, no matter a person’s health! How lovely that your daughter will come and assist you with chores even I couldn’t accomplish in exchange for her favorite meals and a chance to sit and catch up. Swapping books sounds fabulous. If you haven’t read one of mine and don’t win this contest, please order online or the public library, which will order one. If you are housebound, libraries (at least ours) will send books in the mail in a cloth zippered bag. Thanks and good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
I plug at cleaning all the time and never seem to get it all done.
Same with me, Melanie! Never ending, especially in the kitchen. I plead guilty for being messy and not throwing away clothing catalogs that I rarely look through. Thanks for entering the giveaway!
Kate
Kate, I normally start out with a “bang” on spring cleaning, so the first rooms are down from top to bottom, but has I progress thru the house I start to cut corners – this closet can wait until later, those clothes can stay until season (even though they haven’t been worn for several), etc.
The pictures of spring at your home are beautiful.
Thanks for writing, Donna! My spring started off with a huge boom, when our oak tree was struck by lightning. Fortunately it’s still standing, although we lost some electric appliances and our alarm system got zapped. Cleaning from top to bottom does seem to make sense. I also cut corners, especially when it comes to clothes, but am determined to prune in my closets and drawers. Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
I’ve already started on mine as I’m moving in Dec. and need to get rid of a bunch of stuff. I get rid of clothes all the time.
There is nothing like moving to make a person get rid of unneeded stuff, Jill! Ridding myself of clothes is a hard task for me, not that I have much variety as I work out of my home. Thanks for writing and entering the giveaway!
Kate
I’ve started my spring cleaning. I take it by room by room. Then once its done keep up with cleaning and picking up through the year. Its a time to go through closets and get rid of clothes too.
You sound very organized, Alisa! I admire that you keep up with it through the year, and go through your closets and get rid of clothes. Thanks for writing and best of luck in the giveaway!
Kate
I donated two bags of clothes yesterday to the second hand shop at a retirement center. I do a deep clean one room at a time as my body allows.
Three cheers for you, Jan! It’s such a great feeling to donate bag of unneeded clothes. Great that you do indeed clean one room at a time. Thanks for visiting my blog and entering the giveaway!
Kate
I am sorry but I have never had a special time to clean, when I worked I would clean every weekend but now that I am retired I clean when I feel it needs it but that usually only happens if there is not a book sitting there looking at me saying that can wait you need to read and so that is what I do. I would rather read then do anything else.
Now is read let author know then head an do a review so everyone know about the great book I just finished.
I can’t argue with you, Karen! My books call to me, but I make them wait until bedtime, after I’ve finish my own writing, blogging, etc., and a little cleaning each day. There’s no way around the crumbs on the table … Thanks for writing and entering the giveaway!
Kate
Spring cleaning for me in cleaning closets and getting rid of thing I really don’t need. I’m a person who tends to hold on to everything. It’s also a good time to just throw up the window and let the fresh air in.
You have a great system, Myrtle! I’ve gotten inspired to clean my closets and get rid of items I don’t need or wear. Even though it’s a chilly day, I have a couple windows cracked to let the fresh air in. Thanks for your comment and for entering the giveaway!
Kate
Spring cleaning involves lots of Murphy’s Oil Soap and lots of elbow grease! Thanks for a chance to win 🙂
I bet your house smells wonderful after cleaning, Michelle! Thank you for writing and good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
House cleaning, what’s that? I used to obsess about my house and I’d stress when it got “lived in”. As I’ve gotten older I really don’t worry about how it looks. As long as the health dept. doesn’t come and condemn it I don’t worry about it. Thankful too that it doesn’t bother my husband.
There’s an old saying, if you come to see my house, stay away, but if you come to see me, come right on in!
Thanks, Gail, I needed a chuckle! I’ve joked about cleaning the house before the company comes, knowing they will mess it up and I’ll have to clean it again. But my husband has mentioned several times that the house needs a thorough cleaning. He is not a neat-nick, so I know I need to get better organized. I like your old saying that goes along with our old house. Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
Putting away winter clothes and getting out summer clothes is the spring changes I make. I find retirement keeps things tidy 🙂
How wonderful that you keep your home tidy, Deanna! I’m ready to put my winter clothes away, but I have a feeling I’ll be wearing my fleece jacket under a raincoat when I go out walking for a few more months. Thanks for writing and entering the giveaway!
Kate
Spring cleaning was a bit different this year. My father passed away 3 days ago. So I have been helping my mom clean his things. It was a big task. And it took longer than most similar cleaning because there were a lot of tears shed in between sorting out of his personal belongings. Tomorrow is the funeral and it will soon be Easter and that brings comfort to remember the resurrection.
Sonja, I’m glad you’re finding comfort knowing that our Lord died for us. Still, the loss of a father is monumental, even if his death was expected. I’ve sorted through both of my parent’s clothes and know how that feels. Crying is good. Even Jesus cried. Thanks for writing and sharing your story.
Kate
I am jealous since I don’t seem to be able to find the time to do the spring/fall cleaning. It takes everything I have to keep my house cleaned once a week. I know that I am always touching it up.
If you clean your house once a week it’s probably in very good shape, Lisa! Touching up now and then works. Thanks for writing and entering the giveaway. Good luck!
Kate
I wish I were one who depth-cleans my home. When I read these comments, I try to feel guilty because I don’t. My home is not dirty and it takes company coming to get any deep cleaning. Guess I’ll go on that way. Love the runner and surely do home I am the winner.
hope, not home!
I think my sister inherited all the deep cleaning DNA, Martha, while it takes me company coming too. Glad you like the table runner. Good luck in the giveaway!
Kate
My kitchen always ends up the same way as yours. I’m getting rid of anything I have in plastic tubs that I can’t wear and tubs of dishes I don’t use. If it’s in a container I don’t need it. The runner is beautiful.
I like your idea, Roxanne! But on Christmas Eve, when my husband and I suddenly hosted the extended family, I was happy for all the extra dishes we had hidden away. I admit, for the first time, I used cute Christmas-theme paper napkins instead of cloth. Just couldn’t face the ironing. Thanks for leaving a comment and entering the giveaway!
