PLEASE WELCOME “Whoopie Pie Pam” Jarrell!
Thanks for inviting me to drop by your blog today.
I have always been an avid reader. When I discovered my first “plain” book, I knew I was hooked. My interactions with the Amish world go back approximately 15 years. Through the introduction of an Amish family that my parents had become friends with, a whole new world opened up to me. A world that has brought me to who I am today … “Whoopie Pie” Pam. Aptly named by a sweet Amish man who told me that if I ate one more whoopie pie, I would turn into one and I would become fat. Well, I didn’t turn into one. As for becoming fat … we will skip that part. I never dreamed, approximately 12 years ago, that when Schmidt John first called me “Whoopie Pie” Pam, that I would later be selling a collection of books, penned by my own hand, under that trademark name: “Whoopie Pie” Pam.
In 2010, I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma. This resulted in a 3-year battle for me. Through this medical crisis, God spoke gently to my mind and inspired me to create the Whoopie Pie Book Club.
Whoopie Pie Book Club is my ministry. Not only do I get to share my love for the Amish culture and Amish fiction, I get to share with everyone about my God and what he has done for me. And most of all, what he can do for them! Without him, I would be nothing. I would have nothing. At present day, there are over 2500 members of the WPBC and each one is family.
My very first cookbook, Christmas Cookie Exchange, was released in November 2012. My most recent book, Pray Love Eat, are recipes from my heritage of growing up in a small country community where a little country church is the foundation in which the community flourished. Each and every book I write has some meaning in my life.
I’m happy to give away a free copy of Pray Love Eat, a signed paperback or an eBook, to someone who comments below. Tell me a brief description of how you were first introduced to the Amish Culture. (USA only. Winner has 5 days to respond.)

She refers to them as her extended family.

It was immediate, love, curiosity, and respect. I started collecting all sorts of stuff – and reading a book by Beverly Lewis from Abrams Daughters series. Hooked from then on. Thanks

I became interested in Amish culture when I visited Arthur, IL–an Amish community in Central IL. I admire their simple lifestyle and faith. Since then, I’ve connected with others in the community in various ways and they are always friendly when I’m in their shops. Enacting with the Amish is a highlight of shopping in Arthur. Beverly Lewis book The Shunning was the first book I read and I’ve been hooked on Amish genre books since then. I enjoy following authors of Amish genre books through their newsletters, FB and blogs. Thank you for the opportunity to win your book.
Marilyn, I’ve never had the pleasure to visit Arthur, IL, is it a large community? I so admire the simplicity of the Amish culture. For so long, we I began reading Amish Fiction, Beverly Lewis & Wanda Brunstetter were the only books I could find. I’m so happy now that there are many authors to choose from. I would love to have you join us at The Whoopie Pie Book Club! If you love Amish fiction, you will fit right in. Happy Day to you!
Met you a few years ago. Would love to,win a copy of your new book, wonder what happened to,you.
Where did we meet Linda? I’m horrible with names and semi horrible with faces 🙂 I’m still hanging around trying to stay out of trouble. Find me on Facebook Linda. Have a great day!!
I’ve been following you, Pam, for awhile, but had no idea about your name or ministry. How fascinating! I love hearing how God works in people’s lives. What a great testimony. I was introduced to Amish Christian fiction about 10 years ago by a friend who gave me a book by Wanda Brunstetter. I was hooked by the end of the first chapter. Since then, I have read every Amish book I could get my hands on. Love, love, love them! My late husband and I were fortunate enough to visit Lancaster, PA a few times before his death. How I miss those trips! Thanks for this blog post that gave me useful and interesting information.

I became interested in the Amish culture many years ago, 43 to be exact, when we visited Lancaster County, PA. Since then we have visited that area several times and just love it. Two years ago we visited Berlin, OH and loved it even more. We visited again this last Sept. We meet our friends from TN there. People and the countryside are wonderful.
Thanks for a chance to win. Have a blessed Thanksgiving Day!

I have always been interested in the Amish culture and have been fortunate enough to visit the Amish country in Ohio and Pennsylvania. On one visit, we actually stayed on a working Amish farm and were able to go in the barn while milking was being done and the next morning enjoyed a delicious Amish breakfast. It was a wonderful experience.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Melanie, that sounds like a wonderful time for you. Did the farm had electricity available to their guest? It’s early morning here and just reading about an Amish Breakfast makes me hungry for one =) Have a great day!
Hello, Mrs. Pam and Mrs. Kate, I am already a member of Whoopie Pie Book club. I haven’t been on in a while, I have been sick for a couple of years. I have Pulmonary Fibrosis and I just recently found out I was living in an apt, that had 3 kinds of mold and one was , or is called black mold or the worse kind along 2 different ones and I had I had to leave my home and will have to throw everything away, that is made out of paper and other materials, so therefore all my books, many that are signed by many authors and every book I own will have to be thrown away. The mold in my apt was caused from my air conditioner overflowing 3 times and it caused me to be sick and I would love to win this cookbook because , now I have no cookbooks or books to read. It makes me sad!please everyone have a blessed day!

Wonderful article. Enjoyed reading it. There are several small groups of Amish near me in central PA and I have always been interested in their beliefs and way of life. We go to Lancaster at least once a year and have visited Holmes County, Ohio the past two summers. I began reading Amish books about 10 years ago and my collection is ever-growing. Thank you for this giveaway.
Good morning Mary Ellen, one of my Whoopie Pie’ers! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!!
Thanks for offering to share your new cookbook with one of us. My first introduction to the Amish was many years ago when we drove through Lancaster, PA. I have been fascinated by their culture and have enjoyed their cooking, when we would stop at one of their restaurants, so I would truly enjoy this cookbook. Thanks again for sharing. I also enjoy spending time at WPBC, & Prayer Group. Also the recipe group.
