Please welcome Marta Perry!

Have you ever, even for a moment, thought about starting a completely new life? For me, the answer brings an inner panic. As a child, I had to move several times. I still remember vividly how frightening that first day of school was in a new place. How I longed for a friend – just one friend – who would help make the unknown less frightening!

As an adult, I probably wouldn’t succumb to the panic, but maybe that was in the back of my mind when I came up with the idea for my latest book, Where Secrets Sleep. My protagonist doesn’t want a new life, but she’s forced into one, and before long she finds that the new setting has dangers and secrets far worse than any she’s ever imagined. Here’s a bit about the story:

In Amish country, not everything is as simple as it appears.

After a terrible betrayal, Allison Standish flees Philadelphia for the small Amish community of Laurel Ridge to claim an unexpected inheritance. Allison intends to sell the mansion housing various shops – until she meets Nick Whiting, a single father and tenant of Blackburn House, who challenges everything she believes about her estranged grandmother and the Amish community.

Strange stipulations in her grandmother’s will soon bring distant relatives and seething townsfolk to Allison’s door. As anonymous threats escalate, Nick grows protective of Allison, and she finds herself falling for the handsome carpenter… But then she discovers her grandmother’s death may not have been accidental, and someone wants Allison gone. Permanently.

Where Secrets Sleep came out in March from HQN Books. It received a Starred Review from Publishers Weekly and was ranked as a “Must Read” in USA Today.

Marta-Perry Bio: A lifetime spent in rural Pennsylvania and her own Pennsylvania Dutch heritage led Marta to write about the Plain People who add so much richness to the heritage of her home state. Marta has seen over fifty of her books published, and is currently at work on number fifty-seven, with over six million books in print. She and her husband live in a centuries-old farmhouse on twenty-five acres in a central Pennsylvania valley. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sewing, gardening, baking, or enjoying her six beautiful grandchildren.

  Don’t we all have secrets in our lives? I believe we do, and when they come out we can be amazed. Like Allison, my family moved a lot in my childhood but I think our family secrets were in a cedar chest that got left behind on one of our moves.
  I can remember only pictures and blankets since I was only 10 at the time but I feel mom left this chest and belongs

I do not think I have read any of Marta’s books but I think I will start right away and would love to add a signed copy to my collection. I read many books on my kindle but still love to have that feel of a book in my hand!! I have been a reader since the 3rd grade and I am about to celebrate 60 years. Thanks for the great read.

I do not remember reading any of Marta Perry books but that doesn’t mean that I haven’t read one, for sometimes I can’t remember if I have read a book until I get started reading on it and then I remember the characters in the book. This sounds like a great book! In the past, I had often thought about starting a new life somewhere else. But as I’ve gotten older, I realize that there will still be struggles , different ones maybe, but life still happens no matter where you are. Sounds like a intriguing read. I love mysteries. This one doesn’t sound so cozy. Not a bad thing as murder mysteries are attention grabbers that keep you locked into the story page by page. Loved your Three Sisters Inn mystery series. Your stories rock.
