I guess I’m not the patient person I thought I was. I remember anticipating Christmas and the day my parents finally broke down and bought our first dog. When our sons were young, the boys and their friends rarely got on my nerves while they scrambled around the house. Only a patient woman could love youngsters and teenagers as I do. So, what’s been hard about waiting for Forever Amish, my newest novel, to release?
I think of the months and months of research on the Amish, preparation, writing and rewriting. I started with a kernel of an idea, planted, fertilized, allowed the seeds of inspiration to take shape, pruned it, then worked with an editor and book cover designer … But I’ve been circling in a holding pattern for months.
I can’t wait for my new characters to spring to life and intertwine with some of the folks you already know from Leaving Lancaster and Pennsylvania Patchwork!
The official release date is June 5, but Forever Amish is for sale on Amazon! In preparation for all the festivities to follow I thought giving away a copy of Forever Amish was appropriate! Plus a copy of Leaving Lancaster and Pennsylvania Patchwork!
Here’s my question if you’re up for it. What do you do when you’re feeling impatient and wish time would flash by like a slingshot?
Leave a comment and enter to win all three books in the Legacy of Lancaster Trilogy, including newly released Forever Amish! US and Canada. Winner has one week to respond.
Congratulations to Donna B., last week’s winner of a signed copy of either Leaving Lancaster or Pennsylvania Patchwork. Thank you, everyone, for your many entertaining comments!
I try to thing of something positive as to WHY the wait is occurring.
To teach us patience, Rita?
I try to think of something positive while the wait is occurring
I try to think about positive things too, Rita. I must have been musing about something when I fell Instead of watching where I was stepping. I hope that was a one-time occurrence … Thanks for entering the contest. Good luck!
Usually time is crawling by when I have something fun planned, so I try to think about all the fun things I’ll be doing once the time gets here. Keep it positive even though I am the most impatient person. Thanks for the chance to win.
Time does seem to crawl by sometimes, doesn’t it, Cindy? Thank you for writing and entering the book giveaway. Good luck!
Would love to read this!!!

I usually end up in a cleaning mode. It keeps my mind off what I am waiting for. Think I need more of those times. LOL Love to win your books.

Ah, that sounds lovely, Martha! Thanks for writing. Good luck in the contest!
When I’m anxious and impatient and would like the time to go by fast, I read a good book! The book just absorbs all of my concentration and I am not even aware of what is going on around me! This is what I do anytime I am waiting for anything.
Good thinking, Karen. When I know I will have to stand in line or sit in an office for a long time I always bring along something to read. Thanks for visiting my blog and entering the contest. Good luck!
When I am impatient I pray and ask the Lord for patience. Also some chocolate and a good book helps too!
Some chocolate and a good book certainly can’t hurt, Maryann! Thanks for entering the contest!

Thanks for entering the three-book giveaway, Geraldine! Good luck!
At times, especially on a Friday afternoon, I’m really impatient. At work, I just sit and watch the time slooowly go by till it’s quitting time and I can enjoy the weekend. It seems time just stands still. Also, when I’m waiting for my vacation to roll around, time really drags by but when my vacation gets here, it goes by so fast. Why can’t the waiting time go by just as fast?
Good question, Shaun, and great illustrations! Thanks for writing and good luck in the contest!
Nothing better than sitting by the lake with a good Amish book! Have never read your books before but looking forward to it!
I would love you to read one of my books, Penny! Good luck in the contest!
BLESSINGS ON YOUR WRITING, IT BRINGS JOY TOO US ALL!
FONDLY,
DONNA FORKER
Thank you for your lovely note, Donna! Good luck in the book giveaway!
I’m a very patient person myself, but when I do get impatient for something, I tend to find something else to keep me occupied, like my knitting or reading books (like yours, Kate!). Thank you for this giveaway, Kate, and God bless! Can’t wait to read “Forever Amish”!
Knitting and reading one of my books both sound like great de-stressors, Mallory! Thanks for writing. Good luck!
We’ve been thru a lot of trials and hard times in the last 10 years or more. God has brought us thru each one, sometimes with miracles, but mostly it seemed like we might not make it, but we did! Living thru those hard times has caused patience to finally take off in me! Now I feel such a sense of contentment that all is good!! I am finally able to wait in peace! Who knew?? 😉
You mean I’ll have to learn patience the hard way, Deb? I was afraid of that, but your sense of contentment sounds wonderful. Thanks for entering the contest and good luck!
What do you do when you’re feeling impatient and wish time would flash by like a slingshot? I read a book or work in my garden or take a long walk.I am looking forward to reading Forever Amish. Please enter me in contest.Thank you for the opportunity to win.I enjoy reading your books.Have a wonderful week.
Thanks for entering the contest, Emma! Good luck! I hope you have a wonderful week too.
I’m the type of person that can not set around and wait. I have to do something. Or I will go crazy. Like for the past year we have been told that this some one will bring my granddaughters over but that has never happen. So I set and read my Amish books. I will work in my yard. I will try to find something do to. But in I’m doing my yard work I feel that is mine and Gods time I let it all out. Then before I know it time has past and the feeling of waiting is over.
I’m so sorry to hear about your situation, Betty. My heart goes out to you. If someone is keeping you from seeing your grandchildren, you’re not alone. I know several fine women in the same situation. I’m glad you and God have found activities to bring you peace. Good luck in the contest!
Hello and congrats on the book finally getting there. you are probably more patient then you think you are. we all see ourselves different then others see us.
I too get anxious sometimes and think we should just leave it with God and I say a prayer about it,trouble is I sometimes say more then one and maybe he gets tired of me.
I would love to read this story and meet your characters,I know it will be a good one.
Thanks for writing, Paula! I’m sure He doesn’t get tired of you. Good luck in the three-book giveaway!
I remind myself how fast time really does pass and how much I want time to slow down and let me absorb it all.
would love to win N
So true, Nat! Most of the time I want time to slow down. Thanks for entering the three-book giveaway and good luck!
Most of the time I’m patient. If I’m not for some reason, I find something to occupy myself so the time passes more quickly. The key for me is to keep busy, and sometimes this is praying.
It sounds as though you’ve found the most important way of keeping busy, Kathy! Sometimes I get so busy I forget until I get into bed at night. Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!
For me, the best tactic is to stop focusing on the end, and instead hone in and concentrate on the individual tasks involved to get me where I want to be. Looking closely at all the tasks involved as I move along reminds me of all the lessons I have learned and still need to learn. When I finally reach the goal, it is as if I have achieved a lot of little goals on the way to the big one, so I can appreciate it more because of what I’ve put into the process.
Thanks for the opportunity to win your newest book. I just read Pennsylvania Patchwork last week, and enjoyed it thoroughly.
Concentrating on the individual tasks sounds like an intelligent approach, Karen. Thanks for sharing that and for entering the contest!
I have your other two books, and whether I winthus book or not, I will be buying it to read. Love your writings.

Kate, I love you books and would love to win this one.
I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed my book’s, Jane. Thanks for letting me know and good luck in the contest!
at my age you want time to slow down instead of rushing ahead. would love to win a copy of your new book. i have read the other two but send to my secret sister.
Diane, anyone with a secret sister deserves to win another book! Good luck in the contest!
Usually I am a patient person, but there are those few times when I get impatient. Mostly when someone tells me they will be here at a certain time, and then I get anxious and pace. Saying a little prayer for me to be accepting of the circumstances helps me to calm down 🙂 As you know Kate Lloyd you are one of my favorite authors and any book you write is going into my library, whether I win or not! Thank you for the chance!!! Linda Zrubek
Linda, you are such a great encouragement to me. Thank you! Good luck in the book giveaway!
Would love to be the winner. When I am waiting for something I usually pace the floor! Not that it helps but while I am pacing I pick up and put away things that are out of place. Lol
Pacing sounds like a good form of exercise, Marge, and you’re cleaning at the same time. Perfect! good luck in the book contest!
I always look for something to do,like reading a good book.I love your books.I am always got to have something occupying my hands and mind. Thanks for sharing.I enjoy your post.

Maxie
Thanks for writing, Maxi. I hope you’re enjoying lovely weather too! Good luck in the three book giveaway!
What I do when I am finding my impatient? I make myself sit back and take a good look at myself. Life is too short to make it hurry along. I was impatiently waiting to turn 62 and now that it is here I can’t believe how fast it came.
I read Pennsylvania Patchwork and enjoyed it very much. This would be a nice present for my birthday hint, hint. Thank you for the give away.
Thanks to writing, Christine. I’m glad you enjoyed Pennsylvania Patchwork! Life is too short to waste the precious moments by worrying; tomorrow will bring worries enough. Congratulations ahead of time on your birthday and good luck in this contest!
Loved the other books can’t wait to read this one. Would love to win it.
Thank you for writing, Sandy! I’m glad you enjoyed my other books. Good luck in the contest!

I make lists too, Debbie, but you sound more organized than I am. I usually end up misplacing my lists. Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!
I read The first biok in the series. Would love to win them all!
Thanks for entering the contest, Jean! Good luck!
After having read “Leaving Lancaster” and “Pennsylvania Patchwork”, I am so excited to read your newest book, “Forever Amish”!! I am looking forward to “catching up” with some of the characters from your first two books.
Thank you for all of your time and research that you do. It sure makes me feel like I am there as I read and follow their journey. Winning a copy would be an honor!!
Thanks, again, Kate Lloyd!! I am looking forward to mre!!
Thank you for your delightful words of encouragement, Elaine! It’s an honor to me that you entered this contest. Good luck!
I try to keep busy as time goes by faster when you are busy or try to do something that I’ve been wanting to do so time will past faster.
Thanks for commenting, Lucy, and entering the three-book giveaway! Good luck!
Loved reading “Leaving Lancaster”! Great book! It is hard to wait in things we are excited for. When I find myself being impatient, I try to do as many things as possible to keep myself busy. Even if it means organizing my closet. Ha!
Ah, yes, organizing the closet, Danielle. Whenever I do that it gives me time to think and unwind. My closets could do with some organizing, but not today. Good luck in the contest!
I read. I don’t get impatient as much anymore. I have plenty of time, no clock, no boss and no hurrying.
Sounds like a slice of heaven, Karen! Thanks for entering the contest and good luck!
I’m a VERY patient person with everyone EXCEPT myself! Everyone tells me how much patience I have (30 year teacher), but when it comes to myself, I have no patience at all. I guess if it has to be one or the other, I’d much rather have patience with others. I think I am so hard on myself, which leads to impatience and frustration. Maybe reading your latest book will help!! (ha ha)
susanlulu@yahoo.com
What you wrote struck a cord, Susan. I forgive others much more easily than I forgive myself. I play the old if-only-I-could-do-it-over-again routine in my mind. Thanks for writing and good luck in the contest!
Would love to win your new book. Enjoying my usual 3 1/2 days off before the “long haul” (my usual 84 he work schedule)
Be blessed. LOVE, love, love your books!
How you manage to work such long schedules is beyond me, Rita! I’m sure you’re blessing to each person you care for. Thank you for your kind words about my book’s! Good luck in the contest!
I read, crochet, quilt or do some small task. My life is such that i have learned to be patient over the last few years. God bless and thanks for the chance to win.
There’s a lesson to be learned in everything, Lisa, isn’t there? It sounds as though you’ve done well with your circumstances. Better than I have. Good luck in the contest!
I stop to breath in the moment and enjoy the anticipation….then I try to focus my extra energy on being productuve.. That way I stand a chance if occupying my brain and also accomplishing something too!
An intelligent approach, Anne! I bet you get a lot accomplished. Thanks for entering the contest. Good luck!
It looks like I won last weeks giveaway. What a pleasant surprise!! I love reading about the Amish and their lifestyles!! I would like the book Leaving Lancaster from the giveaway. Thank you for writing these great books and for the giveaways!
Hi Donna. I just double-checked to make sure you are not the Donna B. who won last week. I’m so sorry. I wish I had a book to send to every person who entered. Now, that would be fun! But I am entering you in this contest because you left a comment! Good luck.
I know this book will be great. Only read one of yours and I loved it.
Thanks for the chance to win it
Thanks, Patti. I’m glad you enjoyed my book. Good luck in the contest!
I take a slow deep breath and say a little prayer. it usually does the trick…Love your books.
Good advice, Valerie. In fact, I think I’ll take a nice, slow deep breath right now and pray for everyone who has entered this contest. Good luck!
